The person who invented the Magic Eraser is my hero!

For those of you who don’t know, the Magic Eraser is a special sponge that you can use to clean up those really tough stains on hard surfaces. Magic Eraser is the Mr. Clean brand, but many companies make their own version (I have even found generic versions of this sponge). When wet, the sponge will get into the grooves of the stained surface and remove the stain.

Why do I love it? Because it cleans crayons, markers, and pens off the wall. It has even cleaned up blue permanent marker off of a white wall. And I’m not talking about just one little dinky line of marker—it was an area about 3 feet by 4 feet that had parts that were almost solid blue. (Note to self: all writing utensils should be stored on top of the fridge or in a locked drawer.) We recently sold our house, and in many rooms I was able to clean up the grime on the walls instead of having to paint.

This sponge is a life saver for some of those hard cleaning projects that I normally put off doing. It is great for cleaning up baked on food—like the splatters in the microwave or on those Pyrex baking pans. It also gets off soap scum and any other grimy substances. These little white sponges are definitely one of my secret cleaning weapons.

  1. We like the magic eraser too. We were pleased to find it cleaned one of our office copy machines real nice and took the scuff marks off of the walls without removing the paint.
